NFL Power Rankings: Week 1

1. Indianapolis Colts (1-0): The way they crushed the Saints on opening week was crazy. They made not only a statement about themselves, but also about the AFC as a whole. Peyton Manning was simply fantastic, and the defense looked pretty good despite the loss of DT Booger McFarland and others. Good way to start the year for the Colts.

2. New England Patriots (1-0): They slaughtered the Jets, and erased any doubts about them taking the division. Did you see the way Tom Brady and Randy Moss connected? It was plain scary to watch.

3. San Diego Chargers (1-0): L.T. only rushed for 25 yards against that wicked Bears defense, but despite his lack of numbers, the Chagers still won the game over "Da Bears" 14-3. If they can win without a productive L.T., imagine what they can do when he's in the zone.

4. Dallas Cowboys (1-0): The only Super Bowl worthy NFC team with a solid win last week in a 45-35 win over the New York Giants. I know it's early yet, but they should feel encouraged by this, especially the way Terrell Owens and Tony "No He's Not A Tiger" Romo played.

5. Cincinnati Bengals (1-0): A very strong win over a tough Baltimore Ravens team by way of DEFENSE is impressive. Did you see that game winning interception made by the Defensive Lineman? That was nuts.

6. Baltimore Ravens (0-1): It was rough to lose to the Bengals, and questions about McNair's Health once again surfaced. That all being said, I still have them taking the North, even though Pittsburgh looked really good along with the Bengals.

7. Chicago Bears (0-1): They have a great defense, but the offense can't do jack squat. This team will still take the NFC North however, and be in the mix for a Super Bowl Run.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0): I know the Browns aren't a team to really be proud of crushing 34-7, but if Ben Roethlisburger looks that good, you never know what this team can do.

9. New Orleans Saints (0-1): I expect to see a turn around when Drew Brees and co. face the lousy Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but you still gotta think getting maimed by the Colts was a real blow to the psyche of a Super Bowl contending team.

10. Seattle Seahawks (1-0): They cruised past the Bucs last weekend, and I expect them to destroy the Cards this weekend.

11. San Francisco 49ers (1-0): That last drive looked good against the Cards, but how encouraging is it when you barely squeak past one of the lamest teams in the NFL? However, look for them to blow the Rams to bits tomorrow.

12. Denver Broncos (1-0): That field goal by Jason Elam was amazing. However, we all know the Bills suck, and so despite the nice win, Denver needs to play better in order to compete for a Super Bowl like they think they are able of doing.

13. Green Bay Packers (1-0): Maybe Brett Favre is right when he says that they'll contend for a playoff spot. Maybe.

14. Carolina Panthers (1-0): I know they beat the Rams, but they looked good, and for a team who was in a Super Bowl only a couple of years ago, this could be a sign of good carma.

15. Philadelphia Eagles (0-1): I expect Donovan McNabb to get better, and thus this team to get better.

16. Tennessee Titans (1-0): It's good for Vince Young to start the year off with a win, because this team is going to need early confidence. Playoffs aren't likely, but they are within the realms of possibliity.

17. Houston Texans (1-0): Matt Schaub is going to be a very solid NFL QB, and it was nice to see Mario Williams have a productive game in the Texans 20-3 butt whooping of the Kansas City Chiefs

18. New York Jets (0-1): They looked awful against the Pats and then to top it all off, Chad "Crutches" Pennington got cheered by the home fans for getting injured. Not a good sign.

19. Minnesota Vikings (1-0): Beating a "Vickless" Falcon team 24-3 may not say much, but rookie RB Adrian Peterson's 103 yards did say a lot about his potential and what he can bring to the table.

20. New York Giants (0-1): Eli looked good, but that injury to his shoulder is a concern. Plus, Tom Coughlin is just a mental patient isn't he? FIRE COUGHLIN NOW, HE"S A RABID MANIAC! Cheers!

21. Washington Redskins (1-0): They looked decent against the Dolphins, but get serious, who thinks this team has a prayer?

22. Detroit Lions (1-0): Calvin Johnson had a good game at WR, and they beat the Raiders. It may not sound like much, but it should give them a ray of hope.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1): They may have Jones-Drew, but right now that QB situation is looking more and more like a distraction. They go with Garrard, but now Leftwich is angry. My guess is he'll get traded. Maybe to the happless Falcons.

24. Kanas City Chiefs (0-1): If the Texans crush you, you need to rethink your life.

25. Arizona Cardinals (0-1): Another blown opportunity against the 49ers last Monday. Expect to see this be the way things go for Matt Leinart's happless Cards all year. It's a shame, since Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald at wide out are so dominant.

26. St. Louis Rams (0-1): They won't do much, but maybe they can get something out of Steven Jackson at RB.

27. Miami Dolphins (0-1): They are the lamest bunch of Sea Mammel named clan in the NFL.

28. Buffalo Bills (0-1): I'm just praying that Kevin Everett will walk again. It's always scary to have your Spinal Chord injured, but I hear his odds of walking again aren't bad. Hopefully that will remain the case, since you always cringe to hear of somebody getting hurt like that. As for the game against the Broncos, that was a bummer.

29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1): Outside of Jeff Garcia and Joey Galloway this team has no proven talent.

30. Atlanta Falcons (0-1): Without Michael Vick, this team will be ranked in the 30's all year.

31. Cleveland Browns (0-1): START BRADY QUINN! They suck, so they might as well start looking to the future.

32. Oakland Raiders (0-1): Did I ever tell you guys how bad the Raiders are? Even that respected defenese looked like shit against the Lions.
