2007 NFL Power Rankings: Pre-Season

1. Indianapolis Colts (0-0): The great Indy Offense is returning, and now that they've won the Super Bowl, they've earned the right to be the #1 ranked team in the NFL this season. The only concern right now (a big concern), is they've lost 12 starters, and the defense has lost DT Booger McFarland, CB Mike Doss, and LB Cato June to trades (Mike Doss to Minnesota and Cato June to Tampa Bay) and injury(Booger McFarland is out for the year). Overall, it will be tough to get back to the Super Bowl, but with Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and more, this team is still a contender.

2. New England Patriots (0-0): Tom Brady finally has some recievers to throw to, notably Randy Moss and Donte' Stallworth. With a better receiving core, and a defense that ranked # 2 in the NFL last year in points (led by DE Richard Seymour, CB Asante Samuel, and LB Tedy Bruschi), you gotta like the Patriots chances of getting to the Super Bowl.

3. Chicago Bears (0-0): I love this Bears defense, led by Brian Urlacher, and they are my pick to get back to the Super Bowl for the NFC. But the only concern is QB Rex Grossman, who last Monday against the Colts had 3 fumbled snaps and an Interception. He needs to shake this mental block that he has soon, because if he doesn't get his act together within the first few games of the Regular season, Brian Greise is going to have to come in and take his place at QB.

4. San Diego Chargers (0-0): I really think that this Charger team has a shot at the Super Bowl. With LaDanian Thomlinson at running back, Antonio Gates at Tight End, Phillip Rivers at QB, and vicious Linebacker Shawne "Monster" Merriman, you have to like this team's chances of getting to the Super Bowl.

5. New Orleans Saints (0-0): The Saints will be better, since Reggie Bush and Drew Brees will be better. A great team, who many people including myself have marked down as Super Bowl Contenders. If all goes to plan, they should be playing in late January.

6. Baltimore Ravens (0-0): Steve McNair is getting long in the tooth for QB standards, but with LB Ray Lewis, D-Ends Terrell Suggs and Trevor Pryce, and Ed Reed at Free Safety, the Ravens Defense will wreak havok and chaos in the AFC this year on a way to another AFC North Title and possibly a trip to the Super Bowl.

7. Seattle Seahawks (0-0): QB Matt "The Alley Cat" Hasslebeck has been working on a sliding technique in training camp via sliding on slipper wet tarps on grass, it's loopy but just might help him prevent an injury or two. As for RB "Slippery" Shaun Alexander goes, he's also trying to get back to MVP season form. If both of these guys are gellin', then this team could do some damage in a fragile NFC.

8. San Francisco 49ers (0-0): Listen, with QB Alex Smith coming along nicely,RB Frank Gore running over defenders like he's a Monster Truck, and TE Vernon Davis getting another year under his belt, the 49ers will likely be in the post-season. The only problem is the fact that they are young, without playoff experience. They'll probably need to get beat in the post-season first, before they go deep in the playoffs, but with the NFC being a weaker conference, anything can happen.

9. Dallas Cowboys (0-0): People are saying they can go to the Super Bowl, but how much success has head coach Wade Phillips had in the post-season? Not much. I don't want to hold that against them to much, because if Terrell Owens comes to play and if Tony Romo doesn't hold for field goals, this team may come out of the NFC.

10. Denver Broncos (0-0): Jay Cutler is the QB, and he will need to go through some growing pains. However, I really like the defense which is lead by CB Champ Bailey and FS John Lynch. They'll be in the mix, but will ultimately fall a little short.

11. Cincinnati Bengals (0-0): Expect QB Carson Palmer to be a top Fantasy QB, and Chad Johnson to improve his receiving game. The Bengals will be in the playoff hunt, but they're really gonna need help from the defense to make that playoff goal a reality.

12. Kansas City Chiefs (0-0): If Larry Johnson gets fewer carries and gets more help from other RB's (maybe Priest Holmes), then this team is going to do way better than last year. That all being said, the QB situation is still a little iffy, since we know that Damon Huard will start, but almost seems to be a interim guy for future Kansas City QB Brody Croyle, this team will probably get banged around in the vicious AFC.

13. New York Giants (0-0): Eli Manning has been taking some heat from former Giants RB Tiki Barber about leadership, and while I think Tiki has to be careful what he says in the booth, Eli shouldn't let that get in his head. As for Head Coach Tom Coughlin, he's under pressure to get this team back to the playoffs without Tiki Barber and maybe DE Michael Strahan.

14. Philadelphia Eagles (0-0): Eagles QB Donovan McNabb says he's feeling around 70% of his max strenght and that at that percent, he can still be a top NFL QB. I don't want to doubt Donovan, but his health is critical to the sucess of this team. Luckily for him, he has Brian Westbrook to hand the ball off to.

15. Green Bay Packers (0-0): LB A.J. Hawk will have another year under his belt, and as long as Brett Favre is QB, this team could slither into the post season.

16. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0): Without Bill Cowher, this team will have a different look on the sideline, and without LB Joey Porter, the defense will also have a different look. They'll be interesting to watch, but ultimately, post-season is not their destiny this year.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0): Maurice Jones-Drew was fabulous last year, and the QB situation ain't bad with David Garrard and Byron Leftwich.

18. New York Jets (0-0): They got Thomas Jones at RB, but QB Chad "Crutches" Pennington has had health issues that could ultimately hurt this team. No playoff cigars for the Jets this year.

19.Carolina Panthers (0-0): WR Steve "Speedy" Smith is great, and so is QB Jake Delhomme. Maybe this once Super Bowl bound team will make a run, especially now that the Falcons have slipped so much.

20. St. Louis Rams (0-0): QB Marc Bulger is coming off of a very good season, and his main recieving targets Tory Holt and Issac Bruce will be back as well. They've added WR Dante Hall, and RB Steven Jackson will be back, but ultimately this flashy little team will be most teams supper.

21. Minnesota Vikings (0-0): RB Adrian "Maybe the new A-train" Peterson is looking great for a rookie and he is giving this team a ray of hope for the future. But it will be a while before this team makes a playoff run of any kind.

22. Tennessee Titans (0-0): QB Vince Young looks very promising, and appears to have a bright future. But with all the Pacman Jones fiascos going on, and Jeff Fisher's choice of facial hair, this team will probably be another team crying in December at the season's end.

23. Miami Dolphins (0-0): They have no solid QB situtation with Trent Green, and as far as I'm concerned this team will have a rough year.

24. Buffalo Bills (0-0): QB J.P. Losman has got to improve a lot, but even if he does, this team will still be in the cellar.

25. Atlanta Falcons (0-0): Losing QB Michael Vick was a blow, and now that they dealt QB Matt Schaub to the Texans, all their faith has to go into QB Joey Harrington, who sucks and can't start for a real team.

26. Arizona Cardinals (0-0): People are saying playoffs 'cause of QB Matt Leinart and Wideouts Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. But lets face the music, the Cardinals SUCK!

27. Detroit Lions (0-0): They're saying 10+ wins, I'm saying 5 or less. I don't care if they have Calvin Johnson at wide reciever, this team sucks and they'll have to prove it to me that I'm wrong.

28. Washington Redskins (0-0): They have Clinton Portis, but they won't do much.

29. Houston Texans (0-0): They should have picked Reggie Bush instead. Especially when 2nd Round Pick LB DeMeco Ryans played so well last season. Note: DeMeco Ryans had 155 TACKLES last season, while Mario Williams the Texans first pick and the overall #1 pick in the draft had just 47 tackles. WOW! Can you say "DeMeco deserves Mario's contract?"

30.Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0): QB Jeff Garcia is all they got.

31. Cleveland Browns (0-0): Rookie QB Brady Quinn gives this team hope, but they still will suck.

32. Oakland Raiders (0-0): This team is awful, and I'll be shocked every time they win (because it will only be once or twice all year).
